We are developing an innovative, integrated model of children’s community services and looking for enthusiastic individuals to join our friendly and dedicated locality and county-wide professional teams. To assist in the provision of the Speech and Language Therapy Service to children with speech, language and communication needs across the Torbay and South Devon NHS Foundation Trust. To include, but not limited to, assisting with the setting up and running of parent groups, children’s groups, individual assessment and intervention, advice and target setting within settings/ home and developing resources and packages of care. The post-holder will be accountable for own professional action and recognise own professional boundaries, seeking advice as appropriate. He/she will be involved in projecting a positive image of the service as all times, working independently within the framework of the service through receipt of regular supervision and the trust appraisal system. We are working closely with other organisations and providers to ensure we deliver locality and county-wide based integrated access to all of our services, based on the i-Thrive Framework, in response to consultation with our service users and communities. CFHD works closely with our local universities of Plymouth, Exeter & the Peninsula Medical School where we support students in clinical training placements and in addition support our own staff to undertake post graduate training. Our integrated care and treatment has been developed and refined in partnership with children, young people and their families/carers. Person specificationQualifications and TrainingLevel 3 QCF in Health and Social Care or equivalent qualification Must already hold or obtain the Care Certificate within the first 3 months of employment GCSE in Maths and English (Grade C or above) OR Level 2 Key Skills / Functional Skills in Maths and English Foundation Degree in Health and Social Care or qualification to diploma level or equivalent Evidence of additional relevant health training e.g. courses relating to speech, language and communication needs Experience of working with children delivering SLT programmes of advice Experience / Knowledge of working with children with SLCN Knowledge and experienceKnowledge of child development Knowledge of child protection and safeguarding procedures Basic IT skills You will be joining the organisation at an exciting time.
