Go back University Hospitals Sussex NHS Foundation Trust (279) Paediatric Gastroenterology CNSThe closing date is 06 August 2025As a Children's Gastroenterology Clinical Nurse Specialist, the post holder will act as an expert nurse and role model in the care of children and young people and their families. The post holder will demonstrate a good understanding and proficiency in the highly specialist nursing care and management of children and young people in both the hospital and community setting. The service manages a comprehensive range of Gastrointestinal- Nutritional disorders; the caseload will include children with inflammatory bowel disease, liver, coeliac and oesophageal disease including, feeding problems and functional bowel disorders. Main duties of the jobA key role and interest in care of patients with inflammatory bowel disease ( IBD) . Co-ordination and care of the young people having biologics treatments The post holder will also participate in clinical work and coordination of tests within the new clinical investigations unit in liaison with the Gastroenterology team. They will make recommendations and identify areas for development and present these to the gastroenterology team for discussion prior to implementation. They will be responsible for the development, implementation and evaluation of programmes of care, with support from the Consultant Paediatric Gastroenterologists and Matron as the service dictates and ensuring all activity is recorded as required. The level of clinical judgment and autonomous decision making will depend on the individual post holder's level of experience in specific areas. Please see the attached JD & PS Person SpecificationExperienceExperience of Children's gastroenterological nutritional care including enteral and intravenous feeding routes Qualifications and ExperienceRN Child Degree in Nursing Physical Assessment module Extensive post registration experience including some experience or specific interest within paediatric gastroenterology & nutrition. Experience of Children's gastroenterological nutritional care including enteral and intravenous feeding routes Proven management of patient caseload (ward/community) Non medical prescriber previous experience as Gastron CNS Teaching qualification Experience participating in research. Evidence of proficient knowledge and clinical experience in specified and/or broad range of aspects of the specialist care of children with a gastroenterological & nutritional diagnoses.
