About the Role To be employed in this role, you must be over the age of 18 and pass an enhanced safeguarding check. Our stores operate 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, which means we have a variety of shift patterns. If you're looking for flexible working to fit around your lifestyle, this role could be ideal! We will work with you on your shifts, but late and weekend work is required, and flexibility with your work pattern may be necessary. Our in-store Opticians are popular with our customers. They expect the same warmth and friendliness they find elsewhere in the store, along with confidence and ease in discussing personal ocular health issues, resolving customer problems quickly, and guiding customers to suitable products. You will be responsible for preparing patients for eye examinations, explaining each stage of the test, conducting pre-screening examinations, and booking appointments. You will also dispense spectacles and contact lenses, handle repairs and adjustments, and ensure stock is received from suppliers. We will support your development through training, including dispensing glasses and contact lenses, repairs, adjustments, glasses verification, and teaching contact lens insertion and removal. You may complete our dedicated Asda Optical Step In training programme or enroll in the Level 3 Optical Assistant Apprenticeship, depending on your location and eligibility. We aim to support you in becoming a skilled optical colleague capable of delivering excellent customer service and patient care. High-performing colleagues may have the opportunity to become a GOC registered Dispensing Optician through the Level 6 Dispensing Optician Apprenticeship. About You You are naturally friendly, highly organized, and eager to contribute as part of a team. You have good computer skills, attention to detail, and communicate well with customers. You enjoy problem-solving, working with numbers, and are passionate about helping people and providing a great healthcare experience.
