Allied Health Care Professional (ANP, ACP, Paramedic)We are seeking a caring professional—ANP, ACP, Paramedic, or Pharmacist with Minor Illness skills—to join our practice, either full or part-time. The role involves delivering high-quality patient care, utilizing advanced autonomous clinical skills, and possessing a broad and in-depth theoretical knowledge base. Responsibilities include assessing, diagnosing, and treating patient conditions, and initiating direct referrals as appropriate. Main duties of the jobWhile ideally you will be an independent prescriber, this is not essential for the right candidate. You will be capable of telephone triage, managing e-consults, and working as part of an acute hub when needed. As a vital member of our multidisciplinary team, you will support and care for a diverse patient group across our four-site practice. We support ongoing career development and training. About usSt Bartholomew & Hollow Way has a team of 60 staff, including 6 GP partners, salaried GPs, pharmacists, and Allied Healthcare staff. They are supported by an admin and reception team. Our main surgery is at St Bartholomew's on Manzil Way, with three branch surgeries—one serving Oxford Brookes University staff and students, and others at Lake Street and Hollow Way Medical Centre. We are a training practice, supporting trainee GPs, medical students, pre-reg nurses, and pharmacists. We work hard, support each other, and promote work-life balance. Job responsibilitiesJob Purpose The post holder will consult with patients presenting with minor illnesses face-to-face, over the phone, and electronically. The focus is on delivering evidence-based care for patients in the Acute Hub with long-term conditions or minor illnesses, promoting preventative health care. As an autonomous practitioner, you will be responsible for the care delivered, demonstrating critical thinking and clinical decision-making skills. You will work collaboratively with the general practice team, especially GPs, to meet patient needs and support policy implementation. Key relationships include GPs, nurses, allied healthcare staff, prescribing leads, community pharmacists, community matrons, and district nurses. Key Responsibilities Provide clinical assessment, diagnosis (where possible), and treatment for adults and pediatrics presenting with minor illnesses. Support the Acute Hub Service. Clinically triage and manage e-consultations daily. Prescribe, supply, or administer medication according to protocols within scope of competence. Maintain accurate, contemporaneous clinical records of all contacts. Assess, plan, implement, and evaluate treatment plans for patients with long-term conditions. Be flexible to meet clinical and operational needs. Identify, diagnose, and manage treatment plans for patients at risk of developing long-term conditions. Undertake annual reviews and medication reviews in line with protocols. Initiate tests and follow up on results. Work with other healthcare professionals to diagnose, monitor, and manage long-term conditions, including non-drug treatments. Review medication for effectiveness and support patient adherence. Provide medication advice, including side effects and interactions. Work within extended formularies and prescribing protocols. Support health promotion and self-care strategies. Identify vulnerable children and adults, adhering to statutory procedures and local guidance. Work within policies related to family violence, substance abuse, and safeguarding. Contribute to clinical service development and practice as a learning organization. Support and train junior staff, and contribute to teaching and research if interested. Administrative responsibilities include participating in practice duties, attending meetings, and ensuring effective communication. The post holder should be aware of practice KPIs and data protection responsibilities.
