An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Senior Lead Cashier to take ownership of the client transactional and compliance side of the firm’s legal finance operations. Reporting directly to the Compliance Officer for Finance and Administration (COFA), this role is instrumental in ensuring full compliance with the Solicitors Regulation Authority (SRA) Accounts Rules and maintaining the financial integrity of the firm. The successful candidate will lead the accounts department,ensuring compliance with the Solicitors Regulation Authority (SRA) Accounts Rules,manage daily operations, and provide strategic support on regulatory, financial, and process matters. This is a hands-on leadership role requiring both operational expertise and the ability to mentor and guide a high-performing finance team. To be considered for this role you will have a strong knowledge of SRA Accounts Rules and their practical application and proven experience as a Legal Cashier. You will display excellent communication skills and the ability to present complex financial information clearly with high attention to detail and a commitment to accuracy.You will have the ability to work under pressure, manage multiple tasks and meet deadlines. Salary £45,000 Key Responsibilities Oversee all Accounts operations, ensuring full compliance with SRA regulations. Promptly report any breaches to the COFA and maintain ongoing communication on policy, approvals, and process improvements. Manage the team mailbox, delegate tasks efficiently, and ensure timely responses to all queries. Supervise NatWest Bankline usage, ensuring full adherence to compliance standards. Maintain the charities register and ensure all required Undertakings are obtained. Handle complex issues, including residual balances, charity donations, and SRA protocols for untraced client funds over £500. Conduct monthly reviews of interest calculations and notify the COFA of any balances due over £1,000. Oversee the cashroom portal, ensuring queries are managed at the appropriate level and unclaimed client funds are returned in accordance with SRA regulations and firm policy. Manage and support the billing process, including assistance with complex bills. Ensure proper handling of disbursements and client expenses in line with protocol. Oversee reconciliations, reporting, and month-end financial processes to ensure accuracy and timeliness. Set up and/or authorise payments on Bankline in accordance with firm policy. Conduct quarterly reviews for the team. Provide training, mentoring, and day-to-day support for team members. Attend departmental meetings and deliver training/support to fee earners as needed.
