Our values are: We Care, We Respect, We are Inclusive – so we are looking for people who live and breathe these qualities when supporting service users and carers, and in their relationships with colleagues in the Trust and our partner organisations.Job OverviewThis post would be ideally suited for a doctor, who has a minimum of 2 years experience in clinical psychiatry practice, and is interested working in a specialty doctor position in psychiatry outside of a Training position.A successful candidate would have the option of continuing ongoing work in a specialty doctor position, or considering the option of applying for Specialty Training in Psychiatry in the future.An alternative career path would be progression as a specialty doctor and with the possibility of gaining a Certificate of Eligibility for Specialist Registration (CESR) via Article 14 route once required experience can be evidenced in the future.The post-holder will work under the supervision of a consultant psychiatrist and will be integral to a multidisciplinary team, accessing local CPD activities as appropriate.Main duties of the jobDetails in attached JDDuties of the post10 PAsThe speciality doctor will work closely with the consultant psychiatrist and Multi Disciplinaryteam, and will provide clinical support for the assessment and management of mental healthproblems on a routine and emergency basis.On average 9 Programmed Activities per week will be devoted to Direct Clinical Care. Careof patients in the community in North Mid Beds-Biggleswade area, in the Functional Model.Person specificationQualificationsEssential criteriaMedical graduation Fully registered with the General Medical CouncilDesirable criteriaHigher degree Membership or Fellowship of the Royal College of Psychiatrists or equivalent qualification (in accordance with Royal College of Psychiatrists guidelines) Approval under Section 12(2) of Mental Health Act 1983, or plan to gain approval within 6 months of appointment.Knowledge And ExperienceEssential criteriaAt least three years experience of psychiatry clinical practice post medical qualification Appreciation and social and cultural factors of relevant to psychiatric practice Experience of and commitment to clinical care of individuals with severe and enduring mental health conditionsDesirable criteriaExperience of clinical work in Acute Adult Psychiatry Experience of Quality Improvement projects & Clinical Audit Good working knowledge and experience of the application of the Mental Health ActOrganisational Skills/AbilitiesEssential criteriaAbility to work as a part of multidisciplinary, multi-model team Ability to manage complex workloads and support others to do that Consultation skills to services, teams and individuals Commitment to working in multidisciplinary setting Commitment to working with service users on service developmentClinical SkillsEssential criteriaAbility to work in multidisciplinary team and provide leadership for the team Self-motivating and innovative Clear, effective communication style Expertise in risk assessment A balanced approach to risk management, based on warm therapeutic interactions with service users Confident in therapeutic risk taking Commitment to clinical governance and QI Flexibility and ability to work under pressure.
