An opportunity has arisen for a Clinical Coder to join our busy and forward-thinking practice. Rushall Medical Centre is dedicated to providing safe and compassionate care to approximately 15,000 patients within the local area. We are an EMIS practice with 5 Partners, 3 Salaried GP's including a Pharmacy Team, Paramedic, Nurses and Healthcare Assistants and a knowledgeable administration team. We are seeking an enthusiastic and motivated individual to undertake the clinical coding of all hospital, clinical and other support services correspondence within the practice. Main duties of the jobThis role will include the daily processing of all incoming correspondence to the practice, received either physically or electronically by scanning and actioning as necessary using the Docman system ensuring that all patients have accurate and up to date data on their medical records. The ideal candidate will be able to extract the necessary data from correspondence and process the information for action as per practice protocol. About usRushall Medical Centre is a modern purpose built general practice which is located approximately 3 miles outside of Walsall Town Centre. We have onsite parking for both patients and staff. We have a high performing team including GP's, Pharmacists, Paramedic, Practice Nurses, Nursing Associate, Healthcare Assistants, Social Prescriber who work alongside our dedicated administration team. We have approximately 15,000 patients registered at the practice. Job responsibilitiesThe Clinical Coder will be required to undertake the following duties. Maintain and process all incoming and outgoing correspondence via the post or electronically Daily scanning of all clinical letters received into Docman for processing Importation of electronically received clinical letters into Docman for processing Distributing clinical letters fairly and equitably according to addressed clinical recipient. Using workflow optimisation to reduce GP workload through direct processing with no clinical input of a variety of correspondence types, e.g. DNA letters, letters indicating appointments Ensuring all clinical correspondence is correctly filed in electronic patient records, in accordance with letter/department type and dates Distribution of all received post to appropriate team members as necessary if not required for clinical coding Filing of received clinical correspondence in a correct manner, in accordance with practice policy Ensuring clinical letter actions are undertaken in a timely manner, either through distribution of actions to relevant team members, or through direct action from yourself as administrator, i.e. booking an appointment or requesting a blood test To help ensure that services are: Provided in a timely and efficient way Responsive to the needs of the patients Working effectively and efficiently Help out in other administration areas where your line manager identifies where support is needed General administration duties where the need arises Person SpecificationQualificationsGCSE Grade A-C in English and Maths Experience of Clinical Coding (EMIS codes, Snowmed Codes) Experience of working in the healthcare sector Knowledge of medical terminology Experience using Docman ExperienceExperience of Clinical Coding (EMIS codes, Snowmed codes) Experience of working within Primary Care Knowledge of medical terminology ITWill require good IT skills Disclosure and Barring Service CheckThis post is subject to the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act (Exceptions Order) 1975 and as such it will be necessary for a submission for Disclosure to be made to the Disclosure and Barring Service (formerly known as CRB) to check for any previous criminal convictions.#J-18808-Ljbffr
