The primary responsibility of the group programme instructor is to facilitate and deliver therapy groups supporting intensive rehabilitation for patients following stroke and neurological illness or injury in an inpatient setting. This includes managing the open gym and supporting inpatients in supervised or independent practice. Group activities may include functional activities (such as breakfast groups), exercise groups (cardiovascular fitness, balance, upper limb rehabilitation), or social/activity groups. The senior therapy assistant works under the supervision of qualified Therapists, contributing to assessment and treatment within an episode of care. Responsibilities also include administrative and clerical duties, and the role may require working across various sites within the stroke pathway, including weekend shifts. You will lead the delivery of group programmes for the inpatient stroke and neuro rehabilitation unit at Rowan Rehab Unit in Sherborne, supported by qualified therapists. This includes exercise, communication, and functional groups. Additionally, you will support patients in their rehabilitation activities in the therapy gym and perform various therapy assistant duties as part of the multidisciplinary team.
