About The RoleThe Diabetes Research Centre is seeking a talented, motivated Research Dietitian to join the Leicester Lifestyle Health and Research Group (LLHRG) at the Leicester Diabetes Centre (LDC) and NIHR Leicester Biomedical Research Centre. The role involves contributing to a diverse research portfolio investigating how 24-hour lifestyle behaviours—including diet, nutrition, physical activity, sedentary behaviour, and sleep—can be optimized to prevent and manage obesity and long-term conditions such as type 2 diabetes in multi-ethnic populations.The post holder will provide dietetic expertise to support the delivery of clinical research trials in populations with long-term conditions such as obesity and type 2 diabetes. Responsibilities include leading dietetic consultations, supervising others, and supporting various dietary or nutritional interventions, which may be combined with other clinical interventions like pharmacotherapy or exercise programs. The role also involves leading the measurement and analysis of dietary habits and responses to laboratory-based meals, supporting research operations, developing funding applications, coordinating participant visits, and overseeing research spaces including a metabolic kitchen.Based within the Leicester Diabetes Centre at Leicester General Hospital, the post-holder will work with a multidisciplinary team of researchers, staff, students, and visitors. They will contribute to data management and analysis, supervise junior staff and students, and support research outputs.About YouAs a Grade 6 Research Dietitian, you should have a relevant undergraduate or postgraduate qualification in Dietetics and HCPC registration. Clinical experience in the NHS, long-term conditions, or research is desirable but not essential. You should possess strong knowledge of dietetic practice, including delivering interventions and measuring habitual diet, with a commitment to professional development. Excellent interpersonal, communication, problem-solving, and multi-tasking skills are essential.
