Job Description

We are looking for an enthusiastic Band 6 Occupational Therapist to join our Intermediate Care Rehabilitation Therapy Team based within the East Dorset Locality. The role involves providing Occupational Therapy treatment to patients with acute illnesses to prevent unnecessary hospital admissions, facilitate complex discharges, and support patients with long-term goals. The position is primarily community-based but may require work on the ward within the local Community Hospital. Applicants should have previous rotational experience and at least 2 years of post-registration experience. A valid UK Driving License and access to a car are essential. As a Band 6 OT, you will have opportunities to: Develop discipline-specific skills. Enhance holistic assessment skills beyond traditional Occupational Therapy practices. Develop supervisory, leadership, and service development skills. Support and develop junior and assistant staff. Key responsibilities include: Assess, plan, implement, and evaluate specialist treatment, care, and rehabilitation programs to promote independence within a multidisciplinary team. Advance your clinical knowledge through ongoing education. Demonstrate clinical effectiveness using evidence-based practice and outcome measures. Plan and review health improvement programs across various settings. Recognize, assess, and manage risks, ensuring statutory requirements are met. Communicate effectively, including handling complex or sensitive information and using de-escalation techniques. Support change management through strategic thinking and negotiation.
