Senior Relief Support Worker YR Application Deadline:6 September 2025 Department:Operations Employment Type:Zero Hours Location:York Road Accommodation Service Reporting To:Sarah Gwenzi Compensation:GBP 12.25 / hour Description We are looking for people who are motivated to support people who have had a lived experience of mental ill health to reintegrate back into the community after leaving secure settings. Key Responsibilities 1. Establish and maintain relationships of trust with service users, in order to build engagement 2. Help service users to set, prioritise and achieve personal goals, to increase hope, motivation and ambition 3. Work flexibly with service users in their homes and/or in the community 4. Value the lived experience of service users and enable them to use that experience to support each other and improve their Together service 5. Help to reach people in the community who are most in need, including those in marginalised or minority populations 6. Carry out assessments and determine urgency of service user needs 7. Work with professionals from other agencies and make onward referrals, linking service users into other community opportunities 8. Carry out risk assessments, in order to keep service users safe and improve the quality of our support 9. Motivate and support service users to maintain safe and secure housing, deal with financial issues, navigate the benefits and education systems 10. Assist service users to; manage friendships and family relationships; manage their lives by helping with bills, forms, mail and appointments, accompanying service users to appointments as and when necessary 11. Adhere to the Together policy on lone working 12. Make timely records which are concise, accurate, written for the service user to understand, using Together computer-based systems 13. Write clear word processed and handwritten reports (training provided) and records in English 14. Participate in mandatory and job-related courses and learning activities 15. Maintain professional boundaries in all aspects of work with service users Skills, Knowledge & Expertise Essential: 1. Experience in supporting vulnerable individuals gained from paid work and/or voluntary and/or life experience 2. Minimum of GCSE or Level II qualification in English, or equivalent 3. Basic competence in the use of email and word processing software 4. Demonstrate a non-judgemental attitude 5. Able to be empathetic towards service users, create a trusting environment and work in partnership with services users 6. Able to establish and maintain professional boundaries in working with service users and maintain a safe environment 7. Demonstrate problem-solving skills relating to housing, welfare benefits, education and relationships 8. Open to - and willing to participate in - formal and informal job-related learning 9. Willing and able to collaborate with colleagues and other organisations 10. Able to use email and computerised systems for service user records and reports 11. Able to produce clear records and reports in English Desirable 1. Lived experience of mental distress 2.
