Job Description

An exciting opportunity has arisen to join the nurse-led Dorset Bowel Cancer Screening Centre. You will join a highly skilled, motivated team delivering Bowel Cancer population screening to Dorset. Bowel Cancer Screening is offered to every Dorset resident aged fifty to seventy-five years, enabling early detection and treatment of colorectal cancers. Successful candidates will be employed by University Hospitals Dorset NHS Foundation Trust, based at the Poole Hospital site, with travel expected to four other screening sites within Dorset. Poole boasts a bustling quay, some of the best beaches in England, and a stunning natural harbor. It offers easy access to the Dorset countryside, renowned for its natural beauty and the Jurassic Coast World Heritage Site, ideal for outdoor activities. The town has excellent schools, family attractions, and is conveniently located near public transport, including bus and mainline train stations, the Lighthouse Arts Centre, Poole Park, and high street shops. The successful candidate will provide expert knowledge, high-quality care, and psychological support to Dorset Bowel Cancer Screening subjects and their families. This is a part-time position at AFC Band 6. For further information, please contact the main screening office at 0300 0198751. The role involves supporting subjects through the screening pathway, including assessing fitness for colonoscopy, supporting informed decision-making, delivering healthy lifestyle advice, reviewing investigation results, and ensuring accurate communication of outcomes. An essential requirement is attendance at the Bowel Cancer Specialist Practitioner Course and undertaking further training to meet SSP requirements. Our values define #TeamUHD, underpinning our interactions with patients, visitors, and colleagues. UHD is investing in services across the Trust, with some services moving sites temporarily or long-term, which may affect travel reimbursement. Questions about this can be addressed during interviews. For further details or informal visits, contact: Tracey Deacy, Lead Nurse, at or 0300 019 8751.#J-18808-Ljbffr
