Job SummaryWe are looking for an enthusiastic individual with strong communication skills and an interest in Speech and Language Therapy, to join our teamworking within the Medical Speech & Language Therapy Team based at York hospital.This post will cover York Community and Outpatient services and will undertake a range of activities which support the delivery of high standards of patient care.Working alongside the qualified therapists the successful candidate will work directly with patients and their families, to undertake a variety ofrehabilitation activities in order to optimise their independence and function.The post holder will take responsibility for an agreed caseload and have an opportunity to further develop their skills through our competency framework.Interested candidates are welcome to get in touch to find out more!Main duties of the jobYou will carry out clinical duties delegated by qualified Speech & Language Therapists. This will include:implementation of treatment programmes and activities administration/ordering of appropriate equipment and aids running groups alongside a qualified Speech & Language Therapist reviewing patients on the wards, following dysphagia management plans undertaking administrative dutiesAccess to advice and support from qualified staff is routinely provided and clinical work is routinely evaluated.We will provide in-house training within the role, and regular supervision and support are available. The post holder will work as part of the teamand take responsibility for their own caseload.Past experience in speech and language therapy is not essential, but experience in working in healthcare would be desirable.We need someone who has clear and effective written and verbal communication.
