Job SummaryRequired to fill this new, 10 PA, substantive post within the Paediatric Trauma and Orthopaedic Department at the Leeds General Infirmary.This post will support the Paediatric Orthopaedics team (Miss Laura Deriu, Mr Patrick Foster, Mr Colin Holton, Mr John Davies, Miss Adelle Fishlock, Miss Elaine Robinson).This post will deliver care to patients with Paediatric Trauma and Orthopaedic conditions at the Leeds General Infirmary:Outpatient clinicsAcute care of paediatric patientsElective operating with pre-operative and post-operative ward roundsSupervision of patientsContribute to Specialist Multi-Disciplinary team meetingsTo contribute to the role of Leeds as a Training Centre for National Trainees in Paediatric Trauma and Orthopaedic Surgery.To provide support and clinical expertise to the teams based in referring centres.INTERVIEWS WILL BE HELD: Tuesday 30 September 2025Main duties of the jobThe successful applicant should possess the Trauma and Orthopaedic surgery (FRCS Orth) with the Royal College of Surgeons or equivalent and should be included on the Specialist Register or within 6 months of CCT at the time of interview, if currently within a training programme within the UK. In accordance with the consultant appointment regulations, all other categories of doctors must be on the Specialist Register.Applicants should have established skills in Paediatric Orthopaedics.A strong commitment to undergraduate and postgraduate teaching and a research interest is desirable.Consideration will be given to applicants who wish to work full or part time and those wishing to job share.If shortlisted, you will be required to give a 10-minute presentation on:How would you use your previous experience to enhance the Paediatric Trauma and Orthopaedic service in Leeds?About UsLeeds Teaching Hospitals is one the largest teaching hospital trusts in Europe, with access to leading clinical expertise and medical technology. Specifically, must demonstrate higher training in paediatric trauma and orthopaedics, with experience at consultant level, in managing complex foot deformities (0-16 years), congenital hip problems, complex hip deformities and complex neuromuscular and genetic conditions, including but not limited to Cerebral palsy, Spina Bifida and Arthrogryposis. Evidence of continuous career progression consistent with personal circumstances.EssentialManagement, Interpersonal Skills & Other CriteriaUnderstanding of current issues in the NHS. Proven experience in management and leadership at Consultant level. *Well organised and skilled in good time management. *Effective interpersonal skills. *Demonstrate ability to relate to and work within a team. *Hold full GMC Registration with a license to practice. *Entry on the GMC Specialist Register via: -CCT (proposed CCT date must be within 6 months of interview) CESR (or) international applicants should comply with the GMC specialty registration process. CESR applicants must be on the relevant Specialist Register at the time of application.DesirableAttendance at recognised management course.QualificationsEssentialMBBS or equivalent qualification.
