Direct message the job poster from Hurdle Job Summary: The Head of Medical Affairs will establish and lead the medical affairs function at Hurdle.bio, ensuring clinical governance, evidence generation, and scientific communications for our diagnostic, remote-testing and pathway portfolio. This role will collaborate closely with commercial, market access, and partnerships teams, helping translate scientific and clinical insights into strategies that enable adoption by pharma, diagnostics companies, health systems, healthcare providers, and digital health partners. Duties/Responsibilities: Medical Governance:Build and implement SOPs covering promotional review, pathway design, and post-market vigilance. Clinical Evidence Strategy:Design and oversee analytical and clinical validity studies; develop real-world evidence to support regulatory, payer, and partner requirements. Scientific Communications:Prepare core scientific content (claims decks, publications, abstracts, clinical content and payer dossiers) to underpin partner discussions and solution positioning. Remote Pathways Oversight:Guide clinical aspects of at-home and telehealth testing pathways, ensuring safety, quality, and alignment with medical best practices. Cross-Functional Collaboration:Partner with market access, pathway, and management solution teams to ensure the scientific foundation of proposals, product positioning, and customer engagements. External Engagement:Develop relationships with KOLs, advisors, and healthcare stakeholders to inform test development, evidence strategy, and adoption plans. Leadership:Be responsible for the establishment of Medical Affairs within the organisation, support in the management of external vendors or CROs as needed. Clinical Compliance:Offer clinical guidance and direction where necessary across the organisation. To monitor the appropriate application of clinical standards within the day to day core operation. Problem Solving:Become a key stakeholder in the identification, analysing, and resolving issues or obstacles to achieve organisational goals. Using organisational processes to support systematic approach to understanding the root cause of a problem and determining the most effective and efficient solution. Required Skills/Abilities: Strong grounding in diagnostics or related regulated life-sciences sectors, with proven ability to run Medical Affairs or similar functions. Exceptional ability to communicate scientific and clinical information to both technical and non-technical audiences. Comfortable working in a fast-paced environment where you can balance strategic leadership with hands-on execution. Nice to haves: Working experience of design and regulatory pathways that may include the following examples: CLIA/CAP certification pathways including engagement, development and accreditation of Laboratory Developed or Inhouse Developed Tests. Engagement where applicable with FDA regarding 510(k), De Novo, Pre Market Assessments (EU)2017/745 and (EU) 2017/746 Experience in Clinical Risk Management methodologies such as DCB0129 and DCB0160. Experience working within clinical structures such as the (CQC) Care Quality Commission structure. Experience in designing and delivering payer-relevant evidence packages (e.g., health economics, clinical utility). Education and Experience: MD, PharmD, or PhD in a life-science discipline. 8+ years in Medical Affairs, MedTech, clinical development, or related functions within diagnostics or precision medicine. Prior experience supporting market access, payer engagement, or commercial partnerships for diagnostic solutions. Experience in start-ups, scale-ups, or dynamic high-growth environments preferred. Physical Requirements: Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computer Ability to travel (10–20%) for partner meetings, conferences, and lab site visits.
