Job overviewAn exciting opportunity has arisen for a skilled Physiotherapist to join our medical rotations carousel. At present the role consists of Accident and Emergency Department / Frailty Team, Stroke and Acute Medicine, however there is opportunity to expand this and to rotate across both surgical and medical directorates. There is future potential to expand our partnership working with Southport and Ormskirk hospitals with the opportunity to work across the wider sites. The rotations are for 9 months giving the candidate the chance to successfully embed within the teams and gain in-depth knowledge of the patient caseloads. Please note NHS experience is essential for this post. Rotations provide opportunity for the highly motivated therapist to develop their skills in a variety of specialist areas. Working in a diverse environment offers scope to build on skills in a high paced AED setting as well as a specialist service within our Stroke Unit and the diverse medical wards across Acute Medicine. You will need to demonstrate confidence and clarity with your clinical reasoning and make informed decisions that may assist in turning people around safely and effectively in a timely manner. You must be adaptable to increasing demand often in a high-pressured setting. The JD & PS are currently under AfC review and are subject to change Main duties of the jobThe successful candidate should have effective communication skills and be committed to the delivery of quality care as part of the multi-disciplinary team, as well as being open minded in their treatment approach to provide a holistic patient intervention. They will provide high quality, responsive care to patients in any given domain. You will be part of a service that aims to holistically assess and treat our patients incorporating home assessments and thorough follow up. Our aims are to provide a reactive and proactive service to care for the patients, preventing crisis, avoiding hospital attendance, and maximising independence in a patient’s own home where possible. You should have a broad knowledge base to assess a variety of conditions that may present in any given area. You must be flexible in your approach to meet the demands of our 7-day service. You will join our rota and will work 5 days a week over the 7 days that the service is provided. The team hours cover an extended service 8am to 8pm. Shifts are 8am – 4pm ,12pm – 8pm and 11am – 7pm. To ensure a high standard of clinical care for the patients/clients under your care, and support more junior staff to do likewise. To undertake a comprehensive assessment of patients/clients including those with diverse or complex presentations/multi pathologies; use specialist clinical reasoning skills and appropriate assessment techniques to provide an accurate diagnosis of their condition Formulate and deliver an individual treatment programme using assessment, reasoning skills and treatment skills based on a sound knowledge of evidence based practice and treatment options.
