Job Opportunity: Head of Operations (Maternity Leave Cover)Location: City of LondonContract Type: Fixed-term (Maternity Cover)Salary:£52,000 - £55,000Are you a dynamic and strategic operations leader with a passion for place-making and stakeholder engagement? Do you want to play a pivotal role in shaping some of London’s most iconic districts? Join us as Head of Operations and help drive the success of two vibrant Business Improvement Districts – Aldgate Connect BID and Cheapside Business Alliance.About the RoleWe are looking for an experienced and energetic Head of Operations to oversee the delivery of our ambitious business plans and lead the day-to-day running of both BID organisations. This is a high-impact role, managing projects, people, and partnerships to enhance two of London's most exciting destinations.You will work closely with key stakeholders, including local authorities, business leaders, and community groups, to deliver a dynamic programme of events, public realm improvements, and strategic initiatives that support Aldgate and Cheapside as flourishing, 24/7 urban hubs.Reporting StructureReports to: BID DirectorLine Manager to: 2 BID CoordinatorsKey peers: Head of Marketing & Events, Head of PlacemakingAdditional reporting: Primera Corporation DirectorKey ResponsibilitiesLead and manage the BID operational teams to deliver high-quality services in line with strategic goalsOversee project and event delivery, ensuring impact, creativity, and alignment with business plansDrive strong stakeholder engagement, acting as the voice and representative of the BIDsManage financial planning and budgeting, ensuring value for money and high collection ratesDevelop business cases, monitor KPIs, and implement continuous improvement processesRepresent the BIDs at public meetings, events, and policy consultationsChampion inclusivity, sustainability, and innovation across all projectsWhat We’re Looking ForProven experience in a senior operations or programme management roleA strong understanding of Business Improvement Districts or similar partnership modelsDemonstrated success in stakeholder engagement, team leadership, and cross-sector collaborationExcellent project management, budgeting, and communication skillsStrategic mindset with the ability to manage complex, multi-stakeholder environmentsStrong understanding of placemaking, regeneration, public realm, and local authority structuresExperience in a fast-paced, delivery-focused environmentDesirable Skills & QualificationsRelevant professional qualification or equivalent experienceKnowledge of CDM, planning, transport, and public sector policy frameworksFamiliarity with Excel, Word, PowerPoint, and CRM/database systemsExperience managing events, contractors, and urban initiativesComfortable attending early morning and evening events when requiredThis is a rare opportunity to influence real change in the heart of London.
