Job Description

The Holbrook and Shotley Practice are looking to welcome a part-time medical secretary into our busypractice. The role is to work 15 hours a week, over Monday, Wednesday and Friday. With the increasing use of technology in general practice, medical secretaries are playing an increasingly important role in managing patient information and ensuring that healthcare providers have access to the data they need to deliver high-quality care. Main duties of the jobProviding a full secretarial service including the typing of letters, reports, patient referrals, meeting minutes, memorandums, etc. Handling queries regarding hospital appointments and treatments. Ensuring that any requests for information are appropriately dealt with and that all subsequent charges are invoiced appropriately. Arranging meetings (to include the booking of rooms) as required. Designing template letters and forms for use throughout the practice. Maintaining the clinical system, in an accurate and secure manner. Assisting with the gathering of statistics and information. Our Practice team comprises of three GP Partners, two salaried GPs, supported by a highly experienced team of nurses, dispensers, paramedics, and reception team. Person SpecificationExperienceIdeally primary care experience gained within a GP surgery. Audio- and touch-typing skills. Strong administrative experience and good organisation skills. Sound knowledge of medical terminology. Excellent general IT skills including MS Office and experience of working with a clinical system. Experience in read-coding and work-flowing clinical documentation. Understanding of the need to maintain confidentiality and data security, at all times. Ability to multi-task and to work accurately under pressure. Ability to work as part of a team, as well as independently.
