Job Description

This is a fantastic opportunity for a newly qualified pharmacy technician or an experienced pharmacy technician looking to develop in medicines management. If you do not meet the experience or qualification requirements for the Band 5 position, you will join as a Band 4 and receive support through an in-house training programme to progress to a Band 5 Medicines Management Pharmacy Technician. We are seeking an enthusiastic and motivated Pharmacy Technician to join our newly established team of ward-based clinical pharmacy technicians. You will work alongside the pharmacy team and the wider multidisciplinary team in various specialties, including surgery, medicine, elderly care, and the new ICU/critical care team. Applicants must have excellent communication and teamwork skills, be registered with the General Pharmaceutical Council, and hold an accredited medicines management qualification. An Accredited Accuracy Checking Pharmacy Technician (ACPT) qualification is essential for this role. Applications are welcome from newly qualified or soon-to-be qualified Pharmacy Technicians on a Band 4 to 5 progression basis. This includes those who have recently completed their course but are awaiting certificates or GPhC registration, or those due to complete their course in September 2025. The role involves providing pharmaceutical services for inpatients at Kingston Hospital in line with Trust and National standards, completing medicines reconciliation, advising patients, carers, and healthcare professionals on medication issues, and providing pharmaceutical training and support to colleagues. You will assess patients' own drugs (POD) for re-use and adapt as needed when working across different ward specialties. Maintaining your ACPT qualification by supporting the dispensary is also part of the role. We are committed to your growth and wellbeing, offering a supportive environment for professional and personal development. Resources include an on-site staff nursery, wellbeing practitioners, staff physiotherapist, occupational health services, employee assistance programmes, and recognition initiatives like weekly shoutouts and awards. We look forward to welcoming you to our team. ***Please see the attached supporting document(s) for more information about the role, job description, and person specification.*** This advert closes on Sunday, 17 August 2025.#J-18808-Ljbffr
