You will be based at either Paignton Community Hospital or Brixham Community Hospital, both benefiting from a supportive Physiotherapy team. This role is ideal for a physiotherapist who enjoys a varied, often complex clinical caseload, and wishes to develop their diagnostic, clinical reasoning, and rehabilitation skills in MSK. Our innovative MSK physiotherapy service offers digital-first rapid access, self-referral, and well-established Single Point of Access (SPoA) pathways from physiotherapy into orthopaedics for patients with hip, knee, and spinal conditions. CPD is prioritized, with external courses, funded training, and local/service-wide training events to support your professional development. Main duties of the jobProvide high-standard physiotherapy services to patients presenting at musculoskeletal (MSK) outpatient clinics across South Devon, with up to 50% of patients self-referring through rapid access booking systems. Be an expert in assessing and managing general MSK patients, advising patients, physiotherapists, students, assistants, healthcare professionals, GPs, and consultants. Educate and train physiotherapists, students, and other healthcare professionals in MSK management. Offer a range of treatments within the MSK service, including rehabilitation classes, acupuncture, steroid injections, and 1:1 treatments. Maintain close multidisciplinary team (MDT) links. Assess patient understanding, obtain valid consent, and set jointly agreed goals, including working within legal frameworks for patients lacking capacity. Communicate sensitive information regarding diagnosis, prognosis, recovery, and lifestyle adjustments to patients and relatives, including potential impacts on daily life. Maintain accurate, comprehensive documentation in line with legal, departmental, and CSP standards, and communicate assessment and treatment results to relevant disciplines. Person SpecificationQualificationsDiploma or degree in physiotherapy Current HCPC registration Evidence of CPD maintained in a portfolio Experience within the NHS as a Band 5 physiotherapist in diverse clinical settings, including MSK Previous MSK experience at NHS Band 5/6 level Qualification in acupuncture Postgraduate qualification in relevant MSK skills (e.g., MACP, Society of Orthopaedic Medicine, Pilates, acupuncture, strength and conditioning) Band 6 experience within an NHS MSK setting Knowledge and SkillsAdvanced knowledge of a broad range of MSK conditions Experience working within a physiotherapy and multidisciplinary team Core clinical skills: exercise therapy, pain management, mobility training, therapeutic handling Strong assessment skills with clinical reasoning and analytical ability Proven ability to manage complex cases Knowledge of NSFs and clinical guidelines, with experience implementing recommendations Ability to maintain judgment under pressure Training in Staff Appraisal and Clinical Educator courses Experience participating in Clinical Audit Disclosure and Barring Service CheckThis role is subject to the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act (Exceptions Order) 1975.
