The Commercial Team As part of the Commercial team, you will have responsibility for the commercial aspects of our construction sites, supporting a range of new build and refurbishment projects, ensuring commercial activities are accurate and timely. Role Profile- Quantity Surveyor Reports to: Commercial Manager Team members: N/A Location: Wansbeck Workspace and other locations as part of role. Role Purpose: To provide contractual and financial management of projects. Liaise with all internal departments to support and ensure business plan is achieved. Duties and Responsibilities: Provide a comprehensive Quantity Surveying function on both live and pre-construction projects Ensure direct reports are fully supported, resourced, well directed and have a clear understanding of their own role Build relationships internally and externally with project teams and the wider Advance Northumberland group to facilitate a productive and cohesive approach to project delivery Contribute towards development and implementation of processes to ensure robust and accurate cost reporting Production of preliminary estimates, cost plans and feasibility studies including advising of economical construction methods, procurement, programming and contract matters Prepare tenders and subsequently procure sub-contractors, goods and materials to achieve best value in line with Ascent procurement policy Preparation, submission and agreement of sub-contract Payment Notices including production of all associated back up information Monitor and challenge/ agree variations with sub-contractors in a timely manner Prepare and agree final accounts with sub-contractors Preparation, submission and agreement of external Applications for Payment including production of all associated backup information on contracting schemes Submit and agree variations with Employers Agent/ Employer on contracting schemes Prepare and agree final accounts with Employers Agent/ Employer on contracting schemes Manage customer incentives/ extras with sub-contractors Carry out a full CVR process, review with buyers to ensure cost to complete is correct. Preparation & reporting of project cashflow Preparation of contract documentation ensuring compliance with project brief, timescale, budget, legislation, regulation and policies Effective management of contractual issues both internal and external Ensure library house type costs are accurate and updated periodically Assist in growing supply chain partners Procurement of all statutory services and utilities Generic Requirements for all colleagues Contribute to the creation of a positive culture in line with Advance Northumberland values Show commitment to equality and diversity in the workplace and ensure this is reflected in all activities Ensure a safe and sustainable working environment is promoted across the business Contribute to the financial performance of the business, in line with role responsibilities Undertake other reasonable duties as requested Personal Specification Essential Criteria You must have: Degree or relevant experience in Quantity Surveying Contractual awareness and ability to develop robust processes and contract management Experience of quantity surveying works, associated procedures and practices Knowledge of contract administration on standard forms of contract (NEC, JCT) Experience of managing relationships with sub-contractors on a day-to-day basis and management of work packages Full UK driving licence It would be good but not essential if you also have: Experience of using COINS software [Be specific when describing each of the responsibilities.
