The role will primarily focus on theGlaucoma Serviceand support ophthalmology services across secondary and community care. The successful candidate will also support Hillingdon patients at the Western Eye Hospital.This is an exciting opportunity for the unit. The ideal candidate will demonstrate enthusiasm and interest in ophthalmology services in both secondary and community care settings.The main hospital,Hillingdon Hospital , is well equipped and maintains strong links with the Western Eye Hospital, including weekly regional teaching sessions on Friday mornings. All inpatient work is conducted at the Western Eye Hospital, although the post does not include routine clinical sessions there.Hillingdon Hospital is located in West London, near the M25 and M40 motorways, close to Heathrow Airport, and within easy reach of Central London. It serves a local population of approximately 350,000.Main Duties of the Job Applicants are encouraged to review the attached Job Description and Person Specification for detailed information on role responsibilities and requirements.Person SpecificationGMC registered with licenseFRCOphth or equivalentCCST (GMC) Specialist Register or within 6 months of achievementExperience in training and supervising ophthalmology traineesFellowship in Glaucoma or substantial consultant-level experience in GlaucomaSignificant, autonomous surgical experience including trabeculectomy, glaucoma drainage device implantation, bleb revision, and minimally invasive glaucoma surgery (MIGS)Disclosure and Barring Service Check This position is subject to the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act (Exceptions Order) 1975.
