The Role Were on the hunt for a hands-on Production Manager to lead our kitchen and production teams. This role is central to keeping our food production running smoothly, safely, and efficientlyday in, day out.Youll be part of the leadership team and report to the Operations Manager but this is also very much a hands-on role where youll be expected to muck in and support your team when things get hectic!Youll need solid experience in food production and food safety, as well as proven experience managing people youll have a team of around 24 which includes Production Operatives, Cooks, and Team Leaders. Youll also need to be someone whos not afraid to roll up their sleeves when its needed and can lead by example. Working Hours This is a full-time role, 40 hours per week, Monday to Friday, mostly during the daytime. However, well expect some flexibilitythere may be early starts or later finishes from time to time so that you can be present and available to support team members who work varied shifts from 6 in the morning until 10 pm. What Youll Be Doing Leading the team : Motivate and support the team on shift. Help create a collaborative, high-performing environment with a focus on development and wellbeing. Managing production : Ensure our meals are made on time, to spec, and to the highest food safety and quality standards. Food safety & quality : Maintain and support our SALSA accreditation. Make sure production and audit paperwork is completed accurately and consistently. Planning & resourcing : Work closely with the Operations Manager to plan production based on sales forecasts, ingredient availability, and team capacity. Problem solving : Respond to challenges on the floor fast, with practical solutions. Cost & efficiency : Help manage labour and materials costs. Use lean principles to reduce waste and improve performance. Health 'safety : Make sure your team is working safely and that any issues are addressed quickly and effectively. Continuous improvement : Spot opportunities for better ways of working and bring the team on the journey with you. Reporting : Keep accurate records on safety, stock, production, and team performance. What Were Looking For Experience in a food manufacturing or production environment is essential. A good understanding of food safety and quality systems (ideally including SALSA or similar). Previous experience managing and motivating a team. Strong communication skillsyoure someone who listens, gives clear direction, and builds trust. A muck-in mentalityyoure effective at leading the team but also happy supporting on the production line when needed. Passion for high-quality food and doing things properly.
