The ideal candidate will be Take a lead role in managing the design team and managing all technical aspects related to Track Design, ensuring compliance with regulatory standards, managing stakeholder relationships, and driving project success.Within Your Discipline You Will Be Accountable ForManagement of your discipline on projects,Ensure compliance with the relevant lifesaving rules,Proactively review design documentation to ensure construction risks are mitigated at the design stage,Review and sign off the relevant technical design documentation as requiredReview, evaluate and implement rail industry standards to ensure compliance of the engineering deliverables to the standards (quality),Brief the Track engineering team as necessary on standard updates,Maintain and develop competency of the engineering team within your discipline.You Will Also Work OnBiding opportunities across the UK and International Rail business: to support the growth of revenue and capability of ETS Engineering Directorate,Projects for multiple commissions across the UK and International Rail businessWhen working on bids and projects, you will act as:Bid Lead (CDPO)Technical Lead / CREYour Responsibilities Will Include But Not Be Limited ToTake a lead role in managing the design team in your discipline and managing all technical aspects related to Track DesignImplement efficient processes to manage system safety (including CDM, CSM-RA and interoperability), Verification and Validation (V&V) and system assuranceFor some commissions, lead the whole technical production (cross-discipline) of the project, i.e. act as Task Responsible/ Technical fee and acting as a supporting representative of the Project Director,Be responsible for progressing all design and development activities and ensure the design activities / deliverables (e.g. reports, calculations, drawings etc.) are delivered on time and budgetBe responsible for the consistency of the deliverables across all projectsPlan and co-ordinate the activities of the design team (CAD, engineers, expert resources)It is anticipated that the role and day-to-day management will take 10% maximum of your time and the Bid/ Project role minimum 90%What do we need from youEssential10+ years of experience in Engineering / Technical functions, with at least 5 years experience as a CRE / Design ManagerExcellent knowledge of railway infrastructure, systems, and operating requirementsExcellent management skills with the ability to support, mentor and animate a team of engineers and technicians,Significant experience of developing and implementing strategies for projects and programmesExcellent understanding of rail engineering, including Network Rail and associated rail standards, and related regulations (CDM, CSM, RIR)Proven capability in managing design for a rail, especially in multi-disciplinary environmentsKnowledge of track design software products, such as Bentley OpenRail and/or Bentley Power RailKnowledge of working in a BIM environment, using software such as Bentley ProjectWise.DesirableBSc or similar in Bachelor Degree (BEng, BSc) in a Numerate, Scientific or Engineering subject or Higher Education/equivalent training and experience.Chartered Engineer status from a recognised institutionRelevant experience in the design, specification and procurement of infrastructure, track design preferablyYOU MUST HAVE THE RIGHT TO WORK IN THE UKWhat's in it for you?We are committed to our planetIn each project we design, engineer and operate we care deeply about the legacy were leaving behind.
