The RBSA was established 200 years ago and has a dedicated Membership of artists.The RBSA has its own gallery in Birminghams Jewellery Quarter, a short walk from the city centre. We are looking for a part-time _Front of House & Sales Assistant_ to join the RBSA Gallery and the existing dedicated team.Standard hours will be Tuesdays and Wednesday from 10.00am to 5.15pm. As the person who welcomes visitors to the gallery, the role is very important as an ambassador of the RBSA. It will include dealing with enquiries, selling a wide range of craft and original artwork, plus completing a range of administrative tasks. As a key player in a small team, you will enjoy working in a customer-facing role, demonstrate excellent verbal and written communication skills and be able to work on your own initiative.You will have substantial experience of customer service and retail sales, plus have a desire to make a key contribution to the organisation. We deliver a full and diverse program of exhibitions and workshop programs in the gallery, which means that it is an energised and diverse space. Duties Introducing the RBSA and gallery visitor services Selling exhibition artwork Handling sales of craft shop items Handling cash and daily sales reporting using Excel Dealing with enquiries received by email, telephone, post and in person Answering the telephone and directing calls Gallery administration Opening and locking up the premises Contributing to the work of the gallery team in a variety of disciplines, this could include processing exhibition entries, marketing, and updating information.Please note that this list is not exhaustive as all team members are required to contribute to the work of the gallery team in a variety of disciplines. Working hours: Tuesday & Wednesday 10.00am 5.15pmhe successful candidate will be required to work at some RBSA evening events including _Private Views_ (5.00 to 8.30pm), cover annual leave for colleagues (which may be on any day of the week), and to work any additional hours in line with the Gallerys needs. Annual Leave entitlement The post holder will be entitled to 5.6 weeks annual leave (including bank holidays), pro-rata. Person specification We are looking for a highly motivated individual who has a genuine interest in the arts and an interest in learning, with a commitment to aid the endeavors of the RBSA charity. The successful candidate will enjoy meeting people, have a proven track record of sales, keen attention to detail, a commitment to the efficient completion of administrative tasks, be reliable and energetic, have a positive disposition and be able to demonstrate an ability to work on their own initiative and have enthusiasm for all aspects of the role. Qualifications Educated to at least A-Level (or equivalent) and with a proven interest in visual arts. GCSE English and Mathematics at Grade C or above. Skills The successful candidate will be able to demonstrate high levels of numeracy and literacy as well as a friendly and confident approach to visitors and telephone callers. In addition, the successful candidate willhave strong computer skills, including the use of all Microsoft Office packages, particularly Outlook, Word and Excel. Experience in Square and WordPress platforms would be advantageous. Experience Essential: Experience of retail sales and meeting sales targets. A flair for welcoming visitors and providing outstanding customer service. A proven track record in a customer-facing role, including experience of handling challenging situations. Extensive administrative experience including experience of dealing with a large volume of enquiries and of completing administrative tasks without supervision. Excellent IT skills, literacy and numeracy. Excellent interpersonal and communication skills. Good team working skills, with the flexibility to cover for other team members. An organized and efficient approach to managing multiple tasks. Reliable, trustworthy and honest. A positive can do attitude Excellent time-management skills.
