The Role: We are seeking a skilled Sheet Metal Specialist to join our Sheet Metal Department, where you will play a key role in producing hand crafted body panels for our prestigious range of vehicles. This is an exciting opportunity to work with traditional, time-honored techniques to create high quality automotive parts that contribute to the iconic Morgan Motor Company legacy.In this role, you will manipulate pre-formed panels and craft complete coach built bodies and bonnets, ensuring they are ready for the assembly process. As a member of our skilled team, you will be entrusted with producing parts that meet the exacting standards of Morgan craftsmanship and quality. Key Responsibilities: Manufacture body panels using traditional sheet metal techniques to create bespoke components. Hammer form components, shaping both part and fully pressed elements to precision. TIG weld body panels (mainly Aluminium) with meticulous attention to detail, maintaining quality and strength. Prepare assembled bodies and panels for the painting process, ensuring perfect fit and finish. Perform a variety of general sheet metal and fabrication tasks in line with production requirements. Specific Skills & Experience Required: Proven Sheet Metal, Fabrication, and Welding credentials (e.g., City & Guilds, NVQ, or similar qualifications). Expert TIG/MIG welding skills, with a deep understanding of welding distortion and how to avoid it. Experience manufacturing automotive body panels, particularly for the niche automotive sector, ensuring a high standard of craftsmanship. Skilled in preparing BIW (Body in White) assemblies for paint, ensuring components are prepared with precision. Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings and apply them to practical tasks. Previous experience in automotive manufacturing and working within a structured production environment is advantageous. Ability to stay focused and maintain high-quality output during repetitive tasks while adhering to set time standards. Familiarity with using manufacturing jigs and working to established production standards.
