The roleWe are seeking an experienced R&D Senior Manager to join our in-house R&D tax team. Our firm serves a diverse client portfolio across various sectors, offering opportunities to work on a wide range of R&D tax projects.As a team member, you will work with senior staff to lead R&D claims, ensuring compliance with legislation and providing expertise to clients.The teamOur R&D division is a close-knit part of our national Corporate Tax team, spanning 9 locations with 7 partners and over 100 professionals. We handle a large portfolio of clients, including manufacturing, technology, retail, recruitment, financial services, hospitality, property, and charities, ranging from small businesses to large listed groups.ResponsibilitiesCollaborate with senior colleagues within R&D, corporate tax, audit, and accounts teams.Support client meetings and presentations, explaining our services.Identify opportunities and participate in new business pitches.Manage and deliver R&D tax projects with technical excellence and practical solutions.Prepare documentation aligned with UK BEIS guidelines and CIRD manual, maintaining quality standards.Create and edit technical descriptions for HMRC submissions.Coordinate interviews with clients' technical and finance teams, advising on R&D tax relief.Contribute to claim methodology development and prepare R&D tax relief claims.Support engagements, including cost monitoring, billing, risk management, and client relationships.Liaise with HMRC regarding R&D claims inquiries.Maintain strong client relationships and deliver high service levels.Build internal and external relationships to identify growth opportunities.Keep teams and Partners informed about project issues.Collaborate across disciplines to strengthen internal networks.YouThe ideal candidate will demonstrate:Strong R&D technical skillsProactivity, resilience, and recent practical R&D tax management experienceManagerial skills and current knowledge of R&D tax issuesExperience in organizing R&D tax work delivery and problem-solvingProfessionalism and credibility at all levelsCommercial acumen and understanding of client needsCTA and/or ACA/ACCA qualifications or strong knowledge of CT components (preferable)Reward and benefits35-hour work week with hybrid working (up to 3 days remote, core hours 10-4)Benefits including pension, 25 days leave, Life Assurance, flexible benefits, and family policiesParticipation in Profit-Sharing Plan and discretionary bonus schemeAbout usSaffery LLP provides accountancy, audit, advisory, tax, and VAT services to individuals and businesses.
