Somerset NHS Foundation Trust is excited to invite applications for Consultant Stroke Physicians to join our growing, passionate, and innovative stroke team.This is a fantastic opportunity to contribute to an ambitious and well-supported transformation of Somerset’s stroke services, including the launch of a brand-new Somerset-wide Hyperacute Stroke Unit (HASU) at Musgrove Park Hospital in 2026. You’ll work alongside a collaborative team of 6 consultants and 4 specialty doctors, with strong support from specialist nurses, ACPs, therapists, and a progressive management structure.Our stroke service delivers:24/7 thrombolysis and access to thrombectomy at Bristol Southmead via AGWS telemedicineDaily HASU and weekday ASU consultant-led ward rounds7-day TIA clinics and comprehensive outpatient servicesDedicated stroke rehabilitation units and an award-winning Early Supported Discharge (ESD) serviceA robust research portfolio with support from stroke research nursesThis is more than a job, it’s your chance to join a service delivering top-tier outcomes in the SSNAP audit and help shape future services in an integrated, forward-thinking Trust.
