About the Role We are seeking aSenior Engineerin maritime sustainability, regulation and marine technology to lead high-impact research and strategic advisory work of IMO and EU maritime frameworks. The ideal candidate brings over 10 years of experience in regulatory affairs, policy analysis, or maritime compliance, with deep expertise in international and European maritime law and technical standards and maritime regulatory frameworks. This role will play a key part in supporting the Company’s Sales and Marketing strategy by providing insights for emerging marine technologies. Key Responsibilities Lead and conduct in-depth research and analysis on EU maritime directives, regulations, and strategies (e.g., MRV, EU ETS for shipping, Fit for 55, Marine Strategy Framework Directive). Monitor and interpret IMO regulations, guidelines, and conventions (e.g., MARPOL, SOLAS, GHG reduction measures). Develop and oversee the production on high-level compliance frameworks, impact assessment and strategic alignment for senior stakeholders. Analyse the impact of regulatory developments on marine technologies including autonomous ships, green shipping fuels, digital navigation systems, and emission control technologies. Work closely with Sales and Marketing teams to develop value propositions, align strategic messaging with regulatory insights, and support the creation of informed sales and promotional marketing materials. Advise internal R&D, engineering, and innovation teams to ensure technical development aligns with global maritime policy and regulatory trends. Prepare comprehensive policy briefs, regulatory risk assessments, compliance matrices, and strategy reports for internal and external stakeholders. Track ongoing legislative developments in the European Commission, EMSA, and IMO committees, and contribute to position papers or public consultations. Collaborate with engineers, legal experts, and environmental scientists to ensure technology R&D aligns with applicable international standards. Support cross-border research projects funded by the EU (e.g., Horizon Europe, CINEA) and contribute to proposal development. Represent the organisation in stakeholder meetings, conferences, and regulatory forums when required. Attend and participate in IMO Correspondence Groups, EMSA- and MEPC meetings as required. Participate and contribute in selected studies or working groups and represent Anemoi. Advise customers on the use of various Fuel Savings Devices and the possible impact on the vessel and its fuel consumption. Advise customers on how Anemoi’s Rotor Sails reduce the effects of FuelEU Maritime, EU ETS, EEXI, CII and others and how Rotors make Owners compliant. Develop Anemoi’s tools for how to assess fuel savings, vessel performance and cost reductions taking into account both technical and commercial parameters.Requirements Education:Degree or equivalent qualification in Marine Engineering, Marine Technology, Naval Architecture, or a related discipline. Experience: At least 10+ years of experience in regulatory affairs, maritime policy, or technical advisory roles within international shipping, global sustainability centres, or classification societies. Industry Knowledge : Extensive knowledge of key EU maritime regulatory bodies and IMO frameworks. Expertise : In-depth knowledge of the IMO’s regulatory structure and frameworks, EU maritime legislation, decarbonization targets, and classification standards. Skills :Strategic policy analysis and stakeholder negotiation Strong command of regulatory tools and methodologies (e.g., compliance matrices, policy risk frameworks) Excellent communication skillsLeadership : Demonstrated ability to lead cross-functional initiatives, advise senior stakeholders, and support the development of others Mindset : Strategic, forward-thinking, and solution-oriented, with a strong commercial and environmental awareness.
