1:1 SEN Teaching Assistant - Aigburth An inclusive and well-regarded primary school in the Aigburth area of Liverpool is seeking to appoint a dedicated and experienced 1:1 SEN Teaching Assistant to support a pupil with complex needs on a one-to-one basis. This is a rewarding opportunity for a candidate who is confident, proactive, and passionate about making a difference in the lives of children with additional needs.Key Responsibilities:Provide consistent 1:1 support to a child with an Education, Health and Care Plan (EHCP) or who is on the SEN assessment pathwayWork collaboratively with teaching staff, the SENCO, and external professionals to deliver targeted interventionsSupport the pupil’s social, emotional, and behavioural development, including the use of de-escalation strategies during moments of crisis or distressConfidently manage challenging behaviour in a calm, structured and supportive mannerIncorporate sensory activities and therapeutic approaches to help regulate emotional responses and promote engagementAssist with implementing personalised learning strategies in line with the child’s EHCP and school targetsBuild a positive, trusting relationship with the pupil to encourage independence and resilienceEssential Criteria:Previous experience supporting children with SEN, including those with EHCPs or awaiting assessmentConfident in working 1:1 with pupils who may display complex or challenging behaviourKnowledge and experience of using sensory-based strategies to support engagement and regulationAbility to recognise early signs of dysregulation and effectively use de-escalation techniquesExcellent communication and interpersonal skillsA calm, patient, and consistent approachA valid Enhanced DBS on the Update Service, or a willingness to obtain oneDesirable:Level 2 or 3 Teaching Assistant or equivalent SEN-related qualificationTeam Teach, MAPA or similar behaviour management training (not essential but advantageous)If you are interested, please apply using the link or contact me directly to enquire on call our Liverpool office on 0151 519 0800
