Job Description

Job Title: Assistant Psychologist (Band 4)This is a full-time, 6-month fixed-term assistant psychologist position based in Chester. The role is funded by NHSE, and applicants must demonstrate financial disadvantage, such as receiving free school meals as a child, bursaries, caring responsibilities, or low-income status, to meet funding criteria. The post involves supporting and enhancing psychological care across all sectors of the service. Responsibilities include collaborating with multidisciplinary teams, conducting psychological assessments, providing interventions under supervision, and engaging in administrative tasks, audits, research, and training. Main DutiesCarrying out psychological screening assessments and brief interventions, including group work. Participating in audits and small-scale research projects. Contributing to training and supervision of colleagues. Qualifications and SkillsGood honours degree in Psychology (2.i or above) and eligibility for Graduate Membership of BPS. Willingness to undertake breakaway training or equivalent. Desirable Skills and ExperienceAdvanced keyboard skills and experience with spreadsheet/database software. Publication record in peer-reviewed or academic journals. Relevant experience with mental health populations. Strong communication skills, empathy, and judgment abilities.
