Summary As a key member of our Transport Management Team at one of our Key Operational centres, youll be responsible for managing all transport operational activities at site, Involving the effective utilisation of vehicles 'service delivery, including the management of customer expectations in a compliant and customer focused manner. Leading a team of 33 x Class 2 Drivers and office Team Members you will be actively involved in all aspects of the Transport Operation and have the commitment and dedication to succeed in a busy environment Responsibilities will include: Health & Safety: Champion Health & Safety and promote best practice and ensure all tasks and processes are completed on the relevant H&S platform or system Attend regular H&S meetings and regularly monitor/report site and area activity To ensure the site or service is compliant with security check processes, documentation and any relevant legislation Manages roadside coaching, spot checks and spends time in the field with the Service Drivers, minimum of two truck days within each four-week period To ensure all site Health & Safety standards and safe systems of work are maintained by all team members Operational Planning and Compliance: Controls Service delivery costs, namely Driver costs, vehicle costs, console inventory Ensures daily work schedules for the Service Drivers are prepared and distributed Ensure Legal compliance for all Drivers hours and Vehicle regulations Provide support to the sales team as required Manages opening and closing of branch to ensure support for the Service Drivers is provided Work with defined metrics to provide valuable insight into potential service improvements and efficiencies Review transport routes regularly to ensure efficient/effective use of vehicles and drivers Provide out of hours on call duties, on a rota basis as required People Management: Manages all people related activity for the site or area including recruitment, performance, team development and engagement Ensures that all relevant checks are complete including background checks, relevant vocational qualifications, driving records, etc. Ensures adequate Driver cover is provided to meet customer service needs To ensure all team members are trained to high standards and have the relevant knowledge to deliver a great service to our customers Deputise for the Area Service Manager when required Customer Service: Resolves service problems and complete regular customer visits Provides clients and potential clients with operational and service advice Delivers excellent customer service through the consistent management of our service offering Working closely with our Customer Service team to help address any customer queries or issues and ensure any operational actions are completed within the agreed SLA Our new Transport Manager will demonstrate: Strong communication skills, verbal and written The ability to hold regular Team briefings and present KPIs to the Senior Management team Proven Leadership experience with teams of drivers Must hold or be able to obtain a CPC within set time frame Good knowledge of information technology especially Microsoft Office (Work, Excel and Power Point) Excellent organisation skills and attention to detail LGV Class 2 license would be advantageous Stericycle offers you: Contributory Pension Scheme Annual pay review Life Insurance Cycle to Work Scheme Access to SteriCares, our employee support fund Stericycle Learning Journey Your opportunity to develop and progress in your chosen field of work Flu voucher Eye Test voucher And more Shred-it part of the Stericycle organisation is a global leader in the delivery of confidential data destruction solutions.
