Role: NHSS (Technical Assessor)Contract roleLocation: Remote, UK coverageWe are seeking experienced professionals to join our team as Independent Technical Assessors for National Highway Sector Schemes. In this role, you will evaluate accredited bodies to ensure compliance with industry standards and regulations in the highway sector.Ideally looking for experience in either sector below:NHSS 4 - Preservative Treatment of Timber used in highway works, experience in timber preservation and related manufacturing/testing is valuable.NHSS 22 - Management, Operation, Installation, and Maintenance of Road Tunnels, experience in road tunnel engineering and safety systems is criticalThe role involves conducting thorough assessments of highway construction and maintenance projects, evaluating compliance with National Highway Sector Schemes standards, and providing detailed feedback and recommendations for improvement. You will collaborate with project teams and stakeholders to address any compliance issues, while also contributing to the continuous improvement of processes and standards within the industry.Key responsibilities include assessing inspection and verification processes, evaluating technical competence, and ensuring compliance with safety standards. Given the complexity of the role, we welcome specialists with relevant experience, as it is unlikely that all criteria will be met by a single individualPlease note this is a contracted position and can be undertaken alongside your current employer, subject to your employer’s approval.Experience required:The ideal candidate will have a background in civil engineering, construction management, or a related field, with strong knowledge of highway construction and maintenance practices. Experience in quality assurance, auditing, or compliance assessment is preferred, alongside excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
