Youll also play a key part in shaping and delivering capital projects and community initiatives that reduce flood risk and improve the wider water environment.What youll be doing:Leading the authoritys statutory functions in relation to flood risk, surface water, and drainage systems.Developing strategies and policies that support sustainable drainage and long-term infrastructure resilience.Working with internal teams, partners, and stakeholders to deliver capital schemes and community engagement projects that reduce flood risk.Identifying opportunities to enhance the local water environment in line with environmental and climate goals.Providing expert advice and guidance on flood and water management across the organisation.About YouYoull bring in-depth experience across flood risk management, sustainable drainage, water cycle planning, watercourse and sewer infrastructure, and climate change - underpinned by a solid understanding of the scientific, technical, and regulatory frameworks in these areas. Your background may be rooted in civil engineering, environmental policy, or a similar field, and you hold relevant qualifications alongside evidence of continued professional development. Ideally, you are a PRINCE2 Practitioner or willing to work towards this.You are a confident and credible communicator, able to engage influentially with a wide range of stakeholders, including senior figures within and outside the Council. Whether responding to technical enquiries, presenting complex ideas to varied audiences, or negotiating at meetings, you do so with professionalism and clarity.Your strengths lie in project management, strategic thinking, and data-driven decision making. Youre adept at carrying out detailed numerical analysis, identifying trends, and applying sound judgement and political awareness to shape practical, evidence-based solutions.
