Job Description

Position Title: Commissioning Engineer – Electrical, Control & Instrumentation (EC&I) – Nuclear and DefenceLocation: Remote with site visits to Reading as and when requiredEngagement Type: Long-Term Contract (Outside of scope of IR35 - Pending determination)Position Summary:We are seeking a highly competent Commissioning Engineer with a strong bias towards Electrical, Control, and Instrumentation (EC&I) disciplines to support critical infrastructure within the nuclear and defence sectors. This role requires hands-on involvement, technical precision, and a proactive approach to site-based commissioning activities.Key Duties and Responsibilities:Provide hands-on support to the Construction Manager during electrical installationsSupervise site-based EC&I works and report directly to the Commissioning ManagerLead commissioning activities and system validations in accordance with project requirementsDevelop and execute commissioning documentation including ITPs and as-built recordsSign off completed systems in line with regulatory and client standardsPerform system testing, fault-finding, and technical troubleshootingCollaborate with engineering, construction, and QA/QC teams to ensure seamless project integrationTechnical Competencies:PLC/SCADA (Siemens S7 – TIA Portal) configuration and diagnosticsElectrical fault-finding and troubleshooting in control panelsInstrument calibration and setup (pressure, flow, vacuum, pneumatics)Leak testing methodologies (e.g., Parjo, pressure drop)Load testing and functional performance validationQualifications and Certifications:Time-served Engineering ApprenticeshipCity & Guilds 2391-52 – Inspection and TestingCity & Guilds 2382-22 – 18th Edition Wiring RegulationsDemonstrable experience delivering EC&I commissioning on nuclear and/or defence projectsStrong understanding of applicable UK regulations, standards, and site protocolsEligible to obtain UK Security Clearance
