Consultant General Adult Psychiatrist - Community Mental Health TeamAbout This OpportunityHojona Ltd is pleased to partner with South West London & St George's Mental Health NHS Trust to recruit a Consultant General Adult Psychiatrist for their Putney and Roehampton Community Mental Health Team. This is an exceptional opportunity to join a CQC "Good" rated NHS Trust providing specialist psychiatric care to diverse communities across South West London.The RoleOur client seeks an experienced Consultant Psychiatrist to provide medical leadership for the Putney and Roehampton CMHT, serving individuals with severe and enduring mental health conditions. You'll work alongside a specialist medical colleague in a well-established, multidisciplinary team delivering recovery-focused care to an ethnically and socially diverse population.Key ResponsibilitiesClinical Leadership:Provide medical leadership to a 20.6 WTE multidisciplinary teamManage shared clinical caseload of 345 patients (132 CPA, 213 non-CPA)Conduct 2-3 new patient assessments weekly for Wandsworth Single Point of AccessDeliver outpatient clinics, home visits, and crisis interventionsOversee risk assessment, medication management, and recovery-focused care planningProfessional Duties:Participate in Mental Health Act assessments with Section 12(2) approvalSupervise junior medical staff, including Core and Higher Specialty TraineesCollaborate with multidisciplinary team members and external agenciesContribute to clinical governance, audit, and quality improvement initiativesEngage in teaching medical students from St George's University of LondonService Development:Participate in service planning and business development activitiesContribute to Trust-wide quality improvement and innovation programsSupport implementation of new clinical pathways and evidence-based practicesEngage with third sector partners and community organizationsEssential RequirementsQualifications:Primary medical degree with full GMC registrationMRCPsych or equivalent qualificationGMC Specialist Register inclusion for General Adult Psychiatry (or eligible within 3 months)Mental Health Act Section 12(2) approval and Approved Clinician statusExperience:Minimum 3 years full-time approved higher psychiatric trainingComprehensive knowledge of severe mental illness treatment approachesExpertise in psychopharmacological interventions and clinical managementExperience with CPA processes, risk assessment, and managementProven ability to work effectively in multidisciplinary environmentsCore Competencies:Exceptional clinical leadership and decision-making skillsStrong communication abilities with diverse stakeholder groupsCommitment to clinical governance, audit, and continuous improvementAbility to teach and supervise undergraduate and postgraduate traineesCollaborative approach to working with statutory and voluntary sector partnersDesirable QualificationsAdditional specialist qualifications or subspecialty expertiseFormal qualifications in psychotherapy (CBT, DBT, MBT)Higher degree or significant research experienceTeaching qualifications and evidence of educational excellenceExperience in service planning, development, and change managementPublications in peer-reviewed journalsPackage & Benefits Salary: NHS Consultant scale Programmed Activities: 10 PAs (7.5 DCC, 2.5 SPA) Contract: Permanent substantive positionComprehensive Benefits Package:NHS pension scheme with excellent employer contributions32-34 days annual leave plus bank holidays30 days study leave over 3 years with financial allowanceOn-call supplement (3% for 1:20 rota participation)Flexible and agile working arrangements availableProfessional development opportunities through University partnershipsAdditional Perks:Modern office facilities with dedicated laptop and smartphoneAdministrative support and auto-transcription softwareAccess to Trust gymnasium and local health club discountsWellbeing support including occupational health servicesCar parking available (salary sacrifice options)About Our ClientSouth West London & St George's Mental Health NHS Trust serves over 1 million people across Kingston, Merton, Richmond, Sutton, and Wandsworth.
