Solicitor/ Legal Executive (with practice rights) - 13 years PQE in Clinical Negligence Location : Davies and Partners Solicitors, Bristol Office (Hybrid working will be considered) Salary: Competitive + Benefits Hours: Monday to Friday 37.5 hours per week (flexible working hours will be considered) Davies and Partners clinical negligence and personal injury team has a strong reputation for delivering outstanding legal support to clients who have suffered serious injury as a result of medical errors. Job Purpose To act as a fee earner within the Clinical Negligence team, managing a caseload of clinical negligence claims with appropriate supervision, while assisting senior lawyers with more complex and high-value matters. The role involves delivering excellent client care, progressing claims efficiently, meeting financial and performance targets, and supporting the departments continued success. Key Duties and Responsibilities Legal and Case Management Manage a caseload of clinical negligence claims from initial instruction through to resolution, under appropriate supervision. Assist senior fee earners on substantial and complex matters, including during periods of holiday and sickness. Conduct detailed reviews of medical records, instruct experts, and prepare chronologies. Draft pleadings, witness statements, instructions to Counsel, settlement documents, and other legal correspondence. Attend and represent clients at conferences, mediations, and hearings as required. Liaise effectively with clients, experts, Counsel, opponents, and the Court in a professional and timely manner. Ensure accurate and comprehensive digital case records are maintained using the firms case management system. Monitor and adhere to limitation periods, procedural deadlines, and timetables. Undertake legal research to support case strategy. Deliver work to high professional standards, ensuring compliance with regulatory and firm requirements. Departmental Duties Achieve agreed billing, utilisation, and performance targets. Contribute to business development by building relationships with referrers and clients. Support the team by mentoring junior colleagues and sharing knowledge where appropriate. Contribute to the departments online presence by drafting articles for the website and engaging in professional networking. Provide flexibility and support across the team during periods of absence or high demand. Compliance and Standards Maintain the highest professional standards in line with the SRA Code of Conduct and the firms risk management framework. Ensure client service is prompt, responsive, and delivered with empathy and professionalism. Keep up to date with developments in clinical negligence law and procedure. Undertake and record Continuing Professional Development (CPD) in line with SRA requirements. Proactively seek ways to improve efficiency and enhance expertise. Person Specification Legal Status: Right to live and work in the UK. Appropriate DBS disclosure will be required prior to appointment. Education/Qualifications: Solicitor or Legal Executive with practice rights, qualified in England and Wales 13 years PQE in clinical negligence. Skills/Knowledge: Proven experience handling a clinical negligence caseload (appropriate to PQE). Strong understanding of litigation processes and CPR requirements. Confident in analysing complex medical records and instructing experts. Excellent drafting, advocacy, and negotiation skills. Strong client care and communication skills, with the ability to handle sensitive matters empathetically. Proficient in case management systems and Microsoft Office. Highly organised, with the ability to prioritise and meet deadlines. Flexible, collaborative, and able to adapt to changing operational needs.
