OverviewWe are looking to invite applicants to join our dynamic Dermatology team at York Hospital initially on a fixed term 12 month locum contract. Applications are invited for dermatologists to join our current team of 12 Consultants and 1 Associate Specialist for an initial 12 months on a locum contract. The Trust provides a full range of general dermatology services with three dedicated dermatological theatres and facilities for PDT, phototherapy and patch testing. Day case theatres for complex surgical procedures are available. The department employs a team of specialist nurses providing dermatological surgery, skin cancer clinics and chronic inflammatory disease management. There are close links with other specialties such as Maxillofacial, Plastic Surgery and Rheumatology. The dermatology team is active in research with several industry-sponsored and in-house projects supported by research nurses. The post will primarily be based at York Hospital with one peripheral site to cover; flexible job plans to suit applicants can be discussed and may include working at one of our peripheral hospitals. We currently cover dermatology services in York, Scarborough, Malton and Selby, and consultants are expected to work cross site. ResponsibilitiesDeliver general dermatology services within the Trust, including undergraduate and postgraduate teaching. Participate in daytime on-call rota; the post is supported by two specialty trainees. Engage in service development, participate in research projects (industry-sponsored and in-house), and contribute to dermatology teaching. Develop a special interest to support the department; encourage cross-site work as needed. Contribute to both undergraduate and postgraduate teaching, with opportunities through HYMS for extended teaching at the medical school. QualificationsHigher medical qualification (MRCP or equivalent). Be on the GMC Specialist Register for Dermatologists, or be within six months of obtaining CCT, CESR, or European Community Rights at interview time. Familiarity with issues of service organisation and development is advantageous. There is an expectation to participate in daytime on-call cover.
