About UsAttheraces (ATR) is looking for a Senior Developer to work alongside the Web Development team.At The Races is a horse racing media rights company which operates the Sky Sports Racing TV channel and the website attheraces.com and the At The Races app. Domestic distribution of the TV channel extends to around 12 million UK and Irish homes via digital satellite and cable television The company is majority owned by Sky and operates through a joint venture between Sky, Arena Racing Company (ARC) and other racecourses.We broadcast racing from the following tracks in the UK: Ascot, Bangor-on-Dee, Bath, Brighton, Chepstow, Chester, Doncaster, FFos Las, Fontwell, Hereford, Hexham, Lingfield, Newbury, Newcastle, Newton Abbot, Plumpton, Ripon, Sedgefield, Southwell, Uttoxeter, Windsor, Wolverhampton, Worcester and Yarmouth. We have rights to over 700 UK fixtures including Royal Ascot, the St Leger, Chester’s May Festival and the Lockinge. Internationally we are the home of exclusive American, French and Hong Kong racing with fixtures including the Breeders’ Cup, Kentucky Derby, Melbourne Cup Carnival and the Prix de l’Arc de Triomphe.We aim to attract viewers and users with informative and entertaining content and services and increase engagement with horse racing. This will include advising on and contributing to the implementation and delivery of software and hardware components.Key ResponsibilitiesThe key responsibilities of the Senior Developer will include the following:To lead developers on specific projects, reporting to the IT DirectorTo deliver software components to enable ATR productsTo design and develop high-volume, high-performance, high-availability applications using proven frameworks and technologiesTo ensure consistent use of shared platform components and technologies within ATRTo design and develop reusable libraries and APIs for use across the platformsTo contribute to best practice for application developments at ATRTo write unit and integration tests, within automated test environments to ensure code qualityMaintain software applications and make enhancements according to project specifications.Participate in requirement analysis, design, development, testing and implementation activities.Perform unit testing and user acceptance testing to evaluate application functionality.Ensure to complete the assigned development tasks within deadlines.Work in compliance with coding standards and best practices.Provide on-call support for new and existing applications as required.Aid Junior Developers when neededPerform code reviews and recommend improvementsDevelop coding documentation and other technical specifications for assigned projectsAnalyse and resolve development issues accuratelyUnderstand and enhance the current implementation and build of the attheraces.com website and related applications.Building, testing, deploying and managing applications and services through the Azure platform and internal systems.Implement best practices within the department and ensure that they are being followed.Provide strategic solutions to problems or hurdles.Ensure integration with 3rd parties are maintained, expanded and enhanced.Bring forward ideas on new technologies and/or working practices.Demonstrate good communication skills on a technical and non-technical level dependent on the audience.Required experienceProficient in .net, and C#Azure Architecture ExperienceSQLBenefits package includes:Wellbeing support such as counselling and discounted gym membershipCompetitive pensionIncome Protection InsuranceLife AssuranceChristmas and Summer parties/eventsEvents throughout the yearPrivate medicalPrivate dentalCycle to work schemeHow to ApplyTo apply for this position, please send your CV and covering letter to Closing date: Thursday 25th September 2025We understand the value that diversity brings to our business and are an equal opportunities employer.
