Job Title: Transport PlannerLocation: LutonEmployment Type: Permanent, Full-TimeSalary: £28-32k Shift: 4 on 4 off (7am-7pm) GTS Transportation is proud to be recruiting on behalf of a leading logistics provider for an experienced Transport Planner to join their growing team in Luton. This is an exciting opportunity for someone with a strong understanding of transport operations to contribute to the smooth and efficient running of a busy, multi-site logistics network.The RoleAs a Transport Planner, you’ll play a vital role in planning and coordinating vehicle, trailer, and driver schedules to deliver exceptional service while maximising efficiency and controlling costs. Working closely with the Transport Shift Manager, you will help ensure the operation runs safely, smoothly, and in full compliance with regulations.Key Responsibilities:Plan daily and weekly transport schedules for vehicles, trailers, and drivers across multiple UK sites.Ensure timely, cost-effective delivery of customer requirements while maximising fleet utilisation.Monitor live operations and proactively resolve any issues such as delays, breakdowns, or driver shortages.Maintain compliance with EU tachograph legislation, the Working Time Directive, and other relevant regulations.Input accurate, timely data into transport management systems.Communicate effectively with customers, suppliers, and internal teams to provide clear updates.Support continuous improvement initiatives, focusing on service excellence and cost reduction.Provide operational cover and support to the wider transport team as required.About You: To be successful in this role, you will have:Proven experience in a transport planning or operations role, ideally across multi-site operations.A strong knowledge of UK transport legislation, drivers’ hours, and tachograph regulations.Proficient IT skills, particularly in Microsoft Excel and Outlook.Excellent organisational and problem-solving skills with the ability to prioritise effectively.Strong communication skills to build relationships with drivers, colleagues, and customers.High attention to detail and the ability to work under pressure to meet deadlines.Flexibility to support out-of-hours operations when required.What’s in it for you:Competitive salary package.The opportunity to work with a leading logistics provider.A supportive team environment with opportunities for development.If you’re ready to take the next step in your transport planning career, apply today through GTS Transportation and be part of a forward-thinking logistics team.To apply please send your CV to alice.w@
