OverviewEngineering Manager - Railway Engineering Services at WSP in the UK & Ireland (Belfast-based). Lead the technical delivery of a diverse portfolio of rail engineering projects across the UK & Ireland, and overseas.ResponsibilitiesLeading, directing, and coordinating multi-disciplinary technical teams, and supporting the resolution of complex technical problemsManaging client and stakeholder relationships to achieve desired project outcomesSetting an example for health, safety and welfare on projects and instilling a strong safety culture within the delivery teamLeading the development and management of client requirements and other assurance outputs (assumptions and departures)Leading design coordination activities such as integrated design reviews and promoting digitalisation to aid deliveryWorking alongside Project and Design Managers to ensure the technical delivery of Rail projectsProviding guidance, support, and mentorship to aspiring engineering managersTeam and ProjectsYou will work on exciting and inspiring projects for infrastructure owners, national and local governments, and public/private sector clients including Translink, Transport Infrastructure Ireland, MetroLink, Iarnrd ireann-Irish Rail, Network Rail, HS2, and others. You will be part of the Engineering Management and Project Management Service Line, delivering multi-disciplinary projects across the full design lifecycle and mentoring others in the team.The role is based in our city centre office in Belfast. The successful candidate must be resident in Belfast.What we are looking forA track record of delivering multi-disciplinary projects as an Engineering Manager or Assistant Engineering Manager / Design ManagerEngineering specialism and experience in railway engineering designExperience in at least one area of the full project lifecycle from feasibility studies to detailed design and implementationA strong understanding of health and safety regulations (CSM, CDM and other regulations) and the application of safe-by-design techniquesAbility to manage multiple workstreams and teams, balancing priorities and delivering value to meet or exceed our clients expectationsTechnical knowledge to challenge project outputs / deliverablesExperience undertaking roles with specific engineering responsibilities, e.g. CEM, CRE, DPE or PE, or equivalentChartered or incorporated registration with a relevant professional engineering institution, or working towards thisUnderstanding of client engineering assurance processesUnderstanding of railway standardsDesirableExperience across the full project lifecycle from feasibility studies to detailed design and implementationExperience of engineering management of consents-led schemesExperience mentoring and developing staffAbout us and benefitsJoin a global team of more than 69,000 employees delivering positive, long-lasting impacts with a culture of innovation, integrity and inclusion.
