Job Description

Reporting into- Asset Finance, Managing Director Role Overview The primary responsibilities of the successful candidate are to: Lead the underwriting and structuring of large and complex transactions. Site visits and meetings where required, escalating recommendations to the MD where appropriate. Work with the Head of Flow Underwriting to develop the knowledge and capability of the underwriting team. Partner with the Invoice Finance teams to design and deliver multi-product solutions that strengthen client relationships and optimise returns. Exercise delegated credit authority to deliver timely, high-quality decisions within agreed SLAs, ensuring consistency and robustness. Champion continuous improvement of credit processes, proactively identifying opportunities for greater efficiency, consistency, and control. Build strong relationships with brokers, introducers, and clients to facilitate effective decision-making and reinforce our reputation in the market. Interpret and apply the companys Credit Policy with sound commercial judgement, recommending enhancements to maintain market relevance. Maintain deep knowledge of the external market, economic trends, and competitor activity to inform risk appetite and decision-making. Oversee the ongoing monitoring of in-life credit risk across the largest exposures, ensuring early identification and mitigation of potential issues. Deliver insightful credit analysis and recommendations to the Statutory Board to support strategic decision-making. Ensure rigorous documentation of credit decisions to meet audit, compliance, and governance standards. Requirements Advanced credit risk assessment and financial analysis Structuring and negotiating complex, multi-product deals Strong decision-making under delegated authority Clear communication and board-level presentation skills Relationship building with clients, brokers, and stakeholders Leadership and coaching of underwriting teams Process improvement and governance focus Proven track record underwriting and approving large, complex transactions Experience with asset finance, invoice finance, asset-based lending, or structured finance Exposure to board-level reporting and recommendations Oversight of high-value portfolios and in-life risk monitoring Driving enhancements in credit processes and policies Working across teams to deliver integrated financing solutions Credit policy, governance, and regulatory frameworks Financial and accounting principles (cashflow, leverage, liquidity, working capital) Invoice finance and wider working capital products Market trends, competitor practices, and economic impacts on credit risk Legal and documentation standards for secured lending.
