Mechanical Maintenance Technician Manchester 30,000 36,000 per annum, depending on experience Monday to Friday, 8am 4pm The Company A leading international manufacturer operating within the speciality chemicals and FMCG sectors is looking to recruit a Maintenance Technician for its Manchester site. The Role This is a hands-on position reporting to the Engineering Manager. The Maintenance Technician will be responsible for ensuring all site maintenance, repair and safety activities are completed to a high standard. The role involves overseeing contractors, managing the permit-to-work process, responding to breakdowns and driving improvements across engineering operations. Key Responsibilities Carry out and coordinate planned and reactive maintenance. Supervise contractors and manage permit-to-work processes. Oversee high-risk activities such as confined space entry, working at height and electrical work. Maintain accurate records for plant, machinery, calibration and spares. Diagnose and resolve breakdowns quickly to minimise downtime. Implement service schedules and develop Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs). Contribute to site housekeeping and general facilities maintenance. Recommend and implement safety and efficiency improvements. Experience Required 3+ years experience in a manufacturing/production environment Strong background in mechanical or production maintenance (planned and reactive). Experience supervising contractors and applying permit-to-work systems. Qualifications Good literacy, numeracy and IT skills. Desirable Skills Facilities management experience. NVQ Level 3 (or equivalent) in Engineering. Electrical maintenance knowledge. Confined space training. Welding skills.
