Job description: Job Title: HGV Fitter Location: Colchester Salary: 35,000 - 44,000 Job Type: Full-time, Permanent Job Description: We are seeking a skilled and reliable HGV Fitter to join our dynamic team. The ideal candidate will have experience in maintaining and repairing heavy goods vehicles (HGVs) to a high standard, ensuring their safety and operational efficiency. Key Responsibilities: Perform maintenance, servicing, and repairs on a variety of HGVs, including diagnostics, electrical, and mechanical work. Ensure all work complies with safety regulations and company policies. Carry out pre-inspection checks and report any defects or issues. Work with the workshop manager to plan and prioritise tasks. Ensure all vehicles meet the required legal and safety standards. Maintain accurate records of work completed and parts used. Assist with breakdown repairs when needed. Maintain a clean and organised work environment. Requirements: Proven experience as an HGV Fitter, Technician, or Mechanic. Relevant qualifications (e.g., City & Guilds or NVQ in Heavy Vehicle Maintenance). Strong knowledge of mechanical, electrical, and hydraulic systems. Excellent diagnostic and problem-solving skills. Ability to work independently and as part of a team. Full UK driving license (Category C or C+E preferred). Strong attention to detail and a commitment to high standards of work. Desirable: Experience with a variety of HGV makes and models. Knowledge of MOT testing procedures. Previous experience in a similar role within a fleet maintenance environment.
