Our esteemed client, a recognised leader in defence and land systems, is seeking a highly skilled Safety Engineer to join their team based in Bristol. This is an exciting opportunity for a professional with extensive experience in safety systems and acquisition engineering within the land domain. Position Details Location: Bristol (3 to 4 days per week onsite) Contract Duration: Until 31 March 2026, with potential for extension Security Clearance: Current and active SC clearance required Rate: 450 - 570 per day (inside IR35) Role Overview As a Safety Engineer specialising in Land Systems, you will utilise your technical expertise to support complex projects by delivering safety policies and ensuring adherence throughout the lifecycle of military platforms and equipment. Your insights will underpin the development, deployment, and decommissioning of critical systems, maintaining safety and compliance standards in a highly regulated environment. Key Responsibilities Requirements Generation: Develop, review, and endorse safety artefacts, considering in-service support and cost implications. Safety Management: Manage safety management systems, identify hazards, and evaluate risk reduction measures. Legislation & Policy: Educate and guide teams on relevant safety legislation and standards to ensure compliant documentation. Risk Analysis: Conduct risk assessments and document safety impacts meticulously. Design & Advice: Provide safety engineering guidance across environmental and technical themes to decision-makers and project safety panels. Stakeholder & Contractor Management: Oversee contractual safety requirements and coordinate with contractors performing safety activities. Verification & Validation: Lead safety verification, testing, and evaluation processes to ensure system compliance. Safety Assurance: Develop safety assurance plans, monitor compliance, and gather evidence for safety case development. Disposal & Decommissioning: Manage safety aspects associated with system disposal and decommissioning tasks. Candidate Profile The ideal candidate will possess: A Science, Technology, Engineering, or Mathematics qualification at RQF Level 4 or above. Extensive experience in delivering safety systems and acquisition engineering outcomes within the land domain. Proven ability to provide technical advice, lead safety activities, and manage complex projects effectively. Professional registration as an Incorporated Engineer (IEng) or Registered Scientist (RSci) through a recognised professional body.
