Compliance Officer Reports to: Financial Controller Salary: 50,000 - 55,000 Type: Full-time, Permanent About the Role We're looking for a Compliance Officer to ensure our clients business operates to the highest UK standards. This role balances internal compliance, commercial governance, and client-facing compliance services. Reporting to the Financial Controller, you'll work closely with Sales, Service/Project Owners, and the Board. Internal vs. Client-Facing: ~80% internal compliance & governance, ~20% client services Success Measures: Audit outcomes, contract KPIs, revenue from compliance consultancy Key Responsibilities Internal Compliance (~50%) Maintain adherence to GDPR, AML, ISO 9001/27001, Bribery Act, and Modern Slavery Act Manage compliance registers, internal audits, and staff training Deliver Director Responsibility and Governance Training Maintain policies for data retention, info security, and ESG obligations Commercial & Contract Governance (~30%) Review, negotiate, and approve client and supplier contracts Draft/update standard terms, templates, and agreements Support bad debt resolution and dispute management Provide contract-risk training across Sales, Finance, and Operations Client-Facing Compliance (~20%) Deliver chargeable compliance services (audits, training, policy frameworks) Develop tech-enabled compliance tools for clients Scope and price compliance work with Client Solutions and People Services Reporting & Collaboration Produce monthly compliance & contract reports Liaise with auditors, legal counsel, and regulators Partner with teams to automate compliance tracking, contract renewals, and training Experience & Skills Para-legal qualified or recognised compliance/legal certification 5+ years in compliance, legal, or commercial governance within UK professional services Strong knowledge of GDPR, AML, ISO, Bribery Act, Modern Slavery, and UK company law Experienced in drafting and negotiating contracts Attention to detail, analytical, and commercially minded Experience with compliance tech/e-learning desirable Why This Role Matters Maintain full regulatory compliance Ensure contracts and supplier terms are enforceable Resolve disputes and bad debt efficiently Deliver client-facing compliance services that generate revenue Build the foundation for a future Compliance & Commercial Governance Manager role TPBN1_UKTJ
