Job Description The overall purpose of the SEN Learning Coordinator role is to ensure that students accessing the Student Support Centre (Learning Zone) are fully included in school life and able to achieve strong academic, social and emotional outcomes through high-quality, well-planned support. The role leads the daily operation of the Learning Zone, overseeing targeted interventions, coordinating resources, guiding staff practice, and using data to drive effective strategies that help students overcome barriers to learning. It also involves maintaining accurate records, supporting transitions, shaping whole-school inclusion processes, and fostering collaborative relationships so that staff are equipped to meet diverse student needs and students develop the skills, confidence and resilience required for success. Key Duties: Lead all staff in ensuring students who are allocated to the Learning Zone are able to access the curriculum and achieve high-quality outcomes. This includes responsibility for organising the day-to-day operational work of the Learning Zone while ensuring the students allocated to the Learning Zone are fully included in the wider school environment. The general duties and responsibilities also include, but are not limited to, the following: To assess, plan and lead Learning Zone-based intervention for all students as part of the whole-school inclusion programme ensuring that students meet their potential socially, emotionally and academically. To enable students to develop skills which will support their wider learning (e.g. literacy, memory, organisation, metacognition). To manage appropriate Learning Zone resources and to ensure that they are used efficiently, effectively and safely. To contribute to whole-school planning, review and decision making for individual intervention. To maintain accurate records. To oversee transition arrangements for students to new settings and into adulthood. Provide guidance to staff on the choice of appropriate teaching and learning methods to meet the needs of different pupils. Support the SenCo: SEND in the devising, implementation and updating of Learning Support Team policies which reflect the school's commitment to high achievement, and effective teaching and learning. Use data effectively to identify Learning Zone pupils' progress and where necessary work with staff to create and implement effective plans of action to support those pupils. Professional Skills, Abilities and Judgement: Ability to inspire, challenge and influence the practice of others; Team building, fostering and maintain relationships with students, school staff and other professionals. Work under pressure and deliver to time scales. Fostering resilience. Capable of planning intervention work, assessing the needs and achievements of children and maintaining appropriate records.
