Head of Finance Location: Office-based, North London Salary: FTE 80,000 - 90,000 Working Pattern: Part-time, Permanent (3 days per week, office-based) A rare opportunity to lead the finance function for a growing, founder-led retail business. This is an established, multi-site retail business and the business is requiring a commercially astute, hands-on Head of Finance to head the finance team, be responsible for governance and give strategic support to the CEO. It requires a Head of Finance who enjoys being close to the detail, shaping structure and controls, and acting as a trusted advisor. Key Responsibilities Financial Admin, Strategy & Support Support the CEO on any financial matters he needs assistance with. Provide and support him with the relevant financial information to enable him to make informed decisions. Take over recruitment and management of the finance team, ensuring high standards of accuracy, accountability and communication. Provide financial oversight to daily operations, ensuring sales reconciliation, stock accuracy and shrinkage control. Work closely with store management to ensure robust KPIs are implemented and consistently monitored. Lead the cash-flow, budgeting, forecasting and long-term financial planning cycles. Strengthen internal financial controls. Take responsibility for payroll, bank accounts and compliance. Provide clear, commercial analysis across margin performance, category profitability, stock controls and pricing strategy. Ensure accurate, timely and compliant financial reporting. Lead the month-end, quarter-end and year-end close processes. Manage statutory accounts, liaison with auditors, and ensure adherence to UK accounting and regulatory requirements. Experience and skills required: Essential Qualified Accountant, ACA or ACCA. Finance Director, Financial Controller or Head of Finance within retail, FMCG or multi-site businesses preferably within an sme/owner led/entrepreneurial business. Stock-led retail operations, EPOS-driven reporting and inventory management. High levels of accuracy, attention to detail, commercial acumen and profitability analysis. Budgeting, forecasting, reporting, cash-flow management and payroll. Finance systems and process improvement. Hands-on operator capable of managing daily operations while contributing where needed. Proven leadership experience and the ability to build and mentor a high-performing finance team. Financial modelling, analysis and reporting capability.
