Spectrum Geosurvey are seeking an enthusiastic and dedicated individual to join our growing team based in our Lymington office.Job Description A multidisciplinary role that will vary with workload and client requirements. Applicants must demonstrate their ability to manage and prioritise workloads whilst being mindful of timescales and both internal and external demands.Role Responsibilities 70% of the Job Role:Conduct bathymetric processing and assist in maintaining quality and consistency of data processing, deliverable creation, and data management.Assist the Hydrographic Processing and Reporting Manager by working closely with respective project and operational managers to plan and manage processing and archiving activities.Assist with data archive and data repository management, ensuring safe storage of a large variety of data formats.Reporting & charting focal point for ensuring consistency of deliverables.Be a technical authority on hydrographic survey equipment and softwareGuide, manage and be a role model of junior team members, assisting in development of procedures and their training.Identification, investigation and troubleshooting inconsistencies in data, ensuring that it complies with the project scope of work.Data quality control and data assurance ensuring that it complies with the project scope of work.30% of the Job Role:Assist with identifying and triaging continuous development activities, including undertaking software version control, research, and procedural development.Assist in developing the processing workflows.Liaise with software manufacturers to articulate often complex issues, identify, and implement solutions.Provide technical advice and training.Keeping current with technical developments within the industry and wider.Project manage survey projects where necessary.Liaise with clients and organisations regarding data acquisition, processing and supply.Research and development tasks.This position is weighted towards an office role however to ensure currency in data acquisition practices are maintained, there may still be the occasional requirement for the successful candidate to be involved in fieldwork, especially during busy periods. The salary will reflect an increase in office responsibilities, exact salary will depend on applicant experience.Daily Responsibilities:Hydrographic Data Processing, deliverable creation, and reporting.Project administration, client liaison, and resource allocation (staff, IT, processing software, etc.).Establishing and ensuring project milestones are met.Data delivery and quality assurance of completed projects.Client communication via telephone, email, reports, and meetings as needed.Allocating data processing tasks to survey staff outlining expectations, deliverables and achievable deadlines.Maintaining and updating project and deliverable tracking.Required education/experience & attributes:Degree or equivalent in a relevant subject such as Hydrography or other related marine or earth science.At least 3 years’ experience collecting/processing hydrographic dataUnderstanding of Hydrographic surveying principles and experience/knowledge of Bathymetric suites, including PDS, QINSy and CARIS HIPS & SIPS.Proven analytical and problem-solving ability to troubleshoot complex issues.Experience of training and mentoring.Good written and oral communication skills with the ability to convey complex information in a training environment.High level of IT literacy and highly competent in the use of all Microsoft Office applications including Word and Excel.Methodical approach to handling large numbers of data files and the ability to manipulate large bathymetric data sets.Experience with creating charts in QGIS and compiling concise and accurate survey reports.Project management of projects with intermediate complexity.Independent thinker who has the ability to recognise development opportunities and take responsibility for their implementation.Desired but not essential education/experience & attributes: Degree or post graduate qualification in hydrographic surveying (preferably with IHO/FIG “Cat A/B” accreditation or accredited to HPAS Level 1 or 2, or equivalent qualifications).Hydrographic survey field experience.
