Hybrid working arrangements require flexibility and can evolve subject to business requirements.Overview Of Project/roleThe Workshops Engineering team at London Underground plays a critical role in ensuring the safe, efficient, and reliable operation of the rail network. This position focuses on delivering robust engineering solutions to complex overhaul/manufacturing and operational challenges, while providing technical support to production managers.Key responsibilities include producing/reviewing work instructions, cost estimates, and bills of materials, as well as maintaining accurate SAP master data to meet stringent contract requirements.The role is pivotal in resolving day-to-day technical issues, driving process improvements, and ensuring compliance with engineering standards – ultimately supporting the seamless delivery of services across one of the world’s busiest urban transport systems.Key AccountabilitiesEngineering Solution DeliveryEnsure implementation of engineering specifications, changes and modifications into production processes covering Rolling Stock, Signals & General Engineering. Act as the single point of contact for technical issues.Technical Query ResolutionManage and resolve technical queries related to production, project delivery, and material procurement through collaboration with Central Engineering, suppliers, and project teams.Team LeadershipManage a team of engineers providing technical support to workshop production areas.Documentation ManagementProduce and oversee the creation of essential documentation such as Work Instructions and Bills of Materials to support overhaul and repair activities.Cost EstimationProduce detailed estimates for activities based on customer specifications, including labour hours and material costs for accurate budgeting.Bill of Materials DevelopmentDevelop Bills of Materials aligned with customer specifications, drawings, and LUL standards, working closely with engineering and suppliers.SAP Master Data MaintenanceGenerate and maintain SAP master data to ensure accurate material control and procurement processes.Project Delivery OversightManage engineering teams to deliver large-scale projects, including coordination of support engineers on multi-million pound projects.SkillsSkills, Knowledge & Experience A high level of numerical and analytical ability is required along with well-developed communication, negotiating and inter-personal skills. [Essential]Computer literate, able to effectively use word processors, spreadsheets and project planning software such as Microsoft Project and/or Primavera. [Essential]Commercial Acumen. Strong attention to detailAbility to work to tight deadlines.Knowledge Degree/HND/HNC (or equivalent) in an applicable electrical/electronic/mechanical engineering subject is essential.
